Referral Program Terms

How referral rewards, shoot credit, and payouts work.

Effective 2026-07-11

OVERVIEW

Carscenez grows through the people who believe in our work. Our Referral Program is a simple thank-you: introduce us to a business or person we have never worked with, and when their first project with us closes, you earn 10 percent of that project total in Carscenez shoot credit. Your referral link and code do the tracking, so there is nothing to chase.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. 1.Share your link or code. Every partner has a unique referral link and referral code. Send it to a business or person who could use video or photo production and whom we have not worked with before: brands, manufacturers, private collectors, dealerships, agencies, event planners, and the like.
  2. 2.We take it from there. When someone arrives through your link or enters your code, our system attributes them to you automatically. You do not have to sell. We handle the conversation, the scope, and the close.
  3. 3.You earn 10 percent. Once their first project with us closes and is paid, you earn 10 percent of that first project total as Carscenez shoot credit. Apply it to your own Carscenez invoices, or request a cash payout instead.

AT A GLANCE

  • Reward: 10 percent of the referred client's first project total.
  • Form: Carscenez shoot credit, or a cash payout on request.
  • Window: the referred client has 60 days from your referral to begin their first project with us.
  • Scope: first project only, one reward per new client.
  • Cap: none. The larger the project, the larger the reward.

WHO QUALIFIES AS A NEW CLIENT

This program exists to reach clients we would not have reached on our own. To earn a reward, the business or person you refer must be genuinely new to Carscenez.

  • Genuinely new. If we have completed a project with that business or person before, they are not a new client, and no reward applies, regardless of whether their email was already in our system and regardless of whether the referral link technically worked.
  • One entity, one client. A business, brand, or organization counts as a single client. If several people from the same company reach out, that is still one client and one first project. Different employees, departments, or contacts of the same entity do not each earn a separate reward.
  • Already in progress. If the business or person was already in an active conversation with us before your referral, the referral does not apply. Attribution follows your referral link and code and the timing of first contact.

THE 60-DAY WINDOW

Your referral is active for 60 days. The referred client must begin their first project with us within 60 days of your referral for the reward to apply. Our system records the referral and the timing automatically through your link and code. We may extend the window for larger projects with longer decision cycles, at our discretion.

YOUR REWARD

  • 10 percent, first project only. You earn 10 percent of the referred client's first project total. Later projects from the same client are not part of this program.
  • Shoot credit or cash. Rewards are issued as Carscenez shoot credit by default. Shoot credit does not expire and applies toward your own Carscenez invoices. You may instead request a cash payout of your available balance.
  • Earned when the project is paid. A reward becomes available as the referred client's first project is paid. If their project is billed across multiple invoices, 10 percent of each invoice shows as pending from that invoice's first payment and unlocks once that invoice is paid in full. If an invoice total changes, the reward settles to 10 percent of the final amount at full payment.
  • Voided invoices don't count. An invoice that is voided is excluded from reward math entirely; it neither earns nor blocks anything.

USING SHOOT CREDIT

Shoot credit applies to your own open Carscenez invoices.

  • Credit applies to an invoice that is still open (sent, viewed, or partially paid). It is distributed across that invoice's unpaid milestones and reduces what you owe on each of them. A milestone fully covered by credit is marked paid.
  • You choose how much credit to apply, up to your available balance and up to what the invoice still owes.
  • Some items may not be eligible for shoot credit. We reserve the right to designate specific line items or charges (for example, third-party or pass-through amounts) as ineligible for credit. Where an item is ineligible, that portion is payable by your usual method.
  • Applied credit is shown on your invoice and in your account history, so you can always see what was applied and where.

CASH PAYOUTS

If you would rather receive cash than shoot credit, you can request a payout of your available balance from your partner dashboard.

  • Payouts are reviewed and issued by our team. We allow up to 7 business days to review and initiate a payout after you request it.
  • Once initiated, a bank transfer typically takes up to 5 business days to reach your account, depending on your bank.
  • We issue payouts manually. We do not move money automatically, which is why a short review and transfer window applies.
  • Taxes and paperwork. Rewards are taxable income, and a completed IRS Form W-9 is required once your cash payouts reach $2,000 in a calendar year. The Taxes section below has the details.

TAXES

Referral rewards are income, and United States tax rules treat them that way. Because any reward can be taken as cash, its dollar value counts as taxable income to you whichever form you choose, shoot credit included.

  • A completed W-9 comes at the reporting threshold. We collect IRS Form W-9 once your cash payouts reach $2,000 in a calendar year. If federal rules require taxpayer information we do not have, backup withholding (currently 24 percent) can apply to payouts until it is on file.
  • Form 1099. If your rewards for a calendar year reach the federal reporting threshold ($2,000 for 2026, adjusted for inflation in later years), we report them to the IRS on a Form 1099 and send you a copy by January 31 of the following year. Cash payouts and shoot credit both count toward that total.
  • Rewards are reportable either way. Rewards are taxable income whether or not a Form 1099 is issued for them, and we do not withhold income taxes from rewards outside the backup withholding rules above.
  • This is a summary, not tax advice. For how referral rewards fit your own situation, talk to your tax professional.

WHEN A REWARD IS REVERSED OR DENIED

  • Refunds and cancellations. A reward is tied to the referred client actually paying for their first project. If that project is refunded or cancelled, the corresponding reward is reversed. If you already redeemed or were paid a reward that later reverses, that amount is owed back or deducted from your balance. If new work is later added to that first project, its reward follows the same per-invoice rules.
  • We reserve judgment. Before any payout or credit is finalized, we hold the right and reserve judgment to withhold shoot credit or deny a payout if any of these terms were not met. We confirm eligibility before rewards are settled.

WHAT DOES NOT QUALIFY

To keep the program fair and to protect our clients, the following do not earn a reward. These are examples, not a complete list.

  • Referring yourself. You cannot refer your own account, your own business, or a second business you own or control.
  • Referring an existing client. Anyone we have already worked with is not a new client, even if a link or code was used, and even if their email was not already in our system.
  • Multiple people from one company. Separate contacts, employees, or departments of the same business are one client and one first project between them.
  • Public or coupon-style sharing. Referral links and codes are for direct, personal referrals. Posting a code on coupon sites, deal forums, or other public listings is not permitted, and those uses do not earn rewards.
  • Splitting a project to inflate a reward. Breaking one engagement into several smaller invoices or projects to increase or repeat a first-project reward is not permitted. We treat a single body of work as one project.
  • Routing a reward to yourself. Arrangements designed mainly to move a reward to you rather than to bring us a genuine new client do not qualify, including referrals of family or connected parties made for that purpose.
  • Disputed attribution. Where two people claim the same referral, our system's recorded attribution through the referral link and code is final. A client can only be referred once.
  • Projects that are never paid in full or are charged back. A reward requires a completed, paid first project. If payment is reversed for reasons not caused by us, any related reward is reversed as well.

YOUR ROLE

  • You are an independent referrer, not a Carscenez employee or sales representative. Please do not represent yourself as one.
  • Please do not make pricing, scope, or delivery commitments on our behalf. Send the introduction our way, and we will handle the quote and the details directly.
  • Please keep private client details private, and do not disparage Carscenez or our clients.

CHANGES TO THE PROGRAM

We may update or end this program at any time. Rewards you have already earned under these terms will be honored. We stay in our lane: video and photo production, and this program is our thank-you for helping the right people find us.
